UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Bharathiar University

The UGC-Academic Staff College was established in the year 1987 with 100 percent financial assistance from the University Grants Commission. The UGC has renamed the Academic Staff College as Human Resource Development Centre from the year 2015. The UGC-Human Resource Development Centre has again renamed as Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre from 05.09.2023 onwards.

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre had conducted 126 Orientation programmes and 8 Faculty Induction Programmes for the benefit of nearly 4,760 Higher Education faculties since 1987, and 11,750 teachers were benefited for attending 373 Refresher Courses in various disciplines such as Arts, Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce, Languages, etc., More than 17,400 Teachers of College and University were trained. More than One Hundred Special Programmes and Workshops were conducted. 

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Bharathiar University is maintaining the top most status at the National level, not only in terms of number of programmes organized, but also in terms of quality and effective satisfaction of the participants. To accomplish this task, training in Inflibnet-Infonet, EDUSAT exposure, e-learning and e-content development are also provided. 

Apart from the academic side, the MMTTC has jointly organized the National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST) programme funded by the MHRD, New Delhi with co-ordination of the Information and Library Network Centre (an Autonomous Inter-University Centre of UGC), Ahmadabad for the benefit of Librarians of the Colleges and Universities. And it also conducted a programme for non-teaching staff members of CTI (Central Training Institute), Chennai & Mumbai with the sponsorship of CTI. 

It has the facilities of Computers for offering hands-on training on e-Content preparation and SPSS package. It has a great library with 3800 books for the benefit of the participants of programmes of Orientation and Refresher courses. Innovative pedagogical techniques for focused in the Orientation Programme and Refresher Courses. Resource persons with high reputation, scholarships and highly innovative are invited from Abroad, Central Universities and State Universities.

The NAAC has rated the UGC - Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Bharathiar University in the 12th place at National level among 66 HRDCs and as 1st among the four HRDCs functioning in Tamil Nadu State.
