Bharathiar University- Institutional Biosafety Committee (BU-IBSC)

The BU-IBSC has been reconstituted in 2020 as per the new DBT guidelines.BU-IBSC mainly deals with the handling of the hazardous microorganisms/ genetic engineered organisms that are used in R&D in the campus. As per the DBT norms committee meets and regulates the R&D activities. At BU many of the proposals involve plant research involving recombinant DNA technology, some are in the field of animal and microbial biotechnology. Awareness workshops also conducted for the users in the campus.
