Institutional Animal Ethics Committee

A state-of-the-art Animal House Facility (AHF) was established at Bharathiar University in 2015 to conduct toxicological and drug discovery studies. It is a well-equipped, high-standard facility with sufficient space for the separation of activities and is capable of conducting parallel animal studies. It fulfills the standards of international and national regulatory agencies OECD, CPCSEA, and DCGI. It maintains and provides various strains of quality rats and mice to researchers of the Institute. The AH has its own institutional Animal Ethics Committee constituted specifically to address scientific and ethical considerations of animal use for research. The AH is also registered with the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India for conducting experiments on small animals.
