Department of Bioinformatics - Major Facilities

1. Data Mining and Text Mining Lab

Principal Investigator: Dr. N. JEYAKUMAR

The current research focus is developing hybrid data mining and text mining methods for biomedical big data analytics. The Current high throughput genomics and proteomics methods such as NGS, RNA-Seq and Microarray methods develop large volume data.

2. Computational Biology Lab

Principal Investigator: Dr. P. SHANMUGAVEL.

Functional-Centric, disorders like Alzheimer, Parkinson, Autism, Rett Syndrome from Neurological Disorder; Disease infections like HIV, HSV, Hepatitis, Zika; Disease states like Cancer and its type are main focuses to implement all protocol and strategy we develop from diverge algorithms.

3. Structural Biology Lab

Principal Investigator: Dr. N. SUNDARABALAJI.

The lab has undertaken a systems biology approach for structural and functional characterization on the components of the above bacterial survival strategies.

4. Integrated Bio-Computing Lab (IBC)

Principal Investigator: Dr. S. USHA.

Our Integrated Bio-Computing Laboratory (IBC) has been started with the vision to carry out research in almost all the spectrum of Bioinformatics that encompasses structural analysis of biomolecules, their recognition, molecular assemblies, modeling and simulation, algorithm development, writing in-house codes, developing and maintaining databases and web servers, network pharmacological studies in biological systems as well as Next Generation Genome Sequencing analysis.

5. Anthropology and Health Informatics Lab

Principal Investigator: Dr. C. JAYAPRAKASH.

Presently focusing on two diverse extents: (1). Non-coding RNAs (transfer RNAs, and ribosomal RNAs, as well as small RNAs such as microRNAs, siRNAs, piRNAs, snoRNAs, snRNAs, and etc.) identification of edible plants that are eaten by humans. (2). Applying Next Generation Sequencing technologies to resolve the human infections.

6. Molecular Genomics Lab

Principal Investigator: Dr. V.HEMAMALINI.

Investigate the efficacy of small molecules in restoring the normal cellular metabolism and function and to identify potential gene targets through an integrated genomics approach.
