Department of Communication & Media Studies - Achievements

Department Projects

•    Produced documentary on non formal education for the promotion of tribal education in Anaikatti, 2011-12.

•    The Tamilnadu Governments project for Video Conferencing and Smart Class Room facility in Bharathiar University was sanctioned a budget of Rs. 20 lakhs for the installation of Video Conferencing and Smart Classroom facilities on its campus, 2012-14

•    Campaign against manual scavenging: a documentary on the experiences of conservancy workers, 2013-14 for the promotion of awareness on manual scavenging and its implications. 

•    A promotional video on micro loans for women entrepreneurs of Small and Medium Enterprises was produced in collaboration with IIT Mumbai, The project commenced in the month of July 2014, funded by International Business Development Centre, Canada

•    14.09.2016 to 28.05.2017 - Weekend (Saturdays & Sundays) classes held on Computer Design software for school dropouts (10 students) from Thennamanallur Village (Thondamuthur) to provide career opportunities.

•    ICSSR Major Research Project (8 Lakhs) on “Adolescence and Menstruation: An Intervention study of Knowledge, Attitude and Practices among Government and   Private Higher Secondary Students of Coimbatore”, 2018-2020

MoUs

Bharathiar University, Coimbatore  signed a  Memorandum of Understanding with XTC Consultants (Mr.Sasikumar Sadasivam, Managing Director), Media and Entertainment Skill Council (MESC), (Mrs. Jyoti Joshi, Head, South India) New Delhi along with the Department of Communication and Media Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in the presence of the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. P.Kaliraj, Prof. Dr. K.Murugan, Registrar in Charge on 15.12.2020. 


The objective is to propagate and facilitate the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) aligned certificate, Diploma, PG Diploma and Under Graduate and Post Graduate Degree Programmes under MESC. The University being an esteemed training Institution will play as knowledge partner for Media and Entertainment Skills Council.
