Cancer is documented as the second most leading cause of death worldwide followed by cardiac ailments. Our work aims at finding an efficient therapeutic strategy in treating different types of cancer including breast cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, and colon cancer. The therapeutic strategy involves identifying a competent phytodrug for treating the disease. We also develop other therapeutic strategies involving development of a various carrier molecules including nanocarriers, liposomal delivery of drugs in targetting the cancer. We also aim at identifying the molecular pathways involved in the therapeutic strategies of cancer.
- Population genetics

Population genetics play a significant role to know about the changes in the frequency of alleles and genotypes. They will help in understanding the changes which are happening in our system due to various diseases (especially cancer) and exposure to various metals. We had worked on the genetic influence linked with the occurrence of ovarian cancer in a population based manner (South Indian population). We have also been working on studying the impact of exposure of metal oxides (like chromium) against human beings. These works involves finding the genetic and molecular changes which are happening in the selected population, analyzing by various standard techniques and also to find a therapeutic implication in the treatment of any disease or disorders which occurred as a result of above mentioned things.
- Biomaterials and proteomics

Targeted therapy remains as a pivotal strategy in treating various kinds of diseases. As a targeted therapeutic approach in treating diseases like neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer, an appropriate biomaterial for delivery of drug will be designed to act as a vector. The material may include nanoparticles of various combinations (zinc, chitosan, selenium, iron, and silica) or else liposomes, etc. will be designed and developed by adopting various techniques and make it as a suitable carrier for delivery of the selected drug. The studies will also be involved in analyzing the molecular therapeutic strategy behind the efficacy of prepared drug conjugate in curing the disease like pathway analysis, docking analysis, protein expression analysis, etc.
