Rs.50 crore under Component 10: RESEARCH INNOVATION AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Funds Utilized

1.    BHARATHIAR  ENTREPRENEURSHIP, INNOVATION AND CAREER HUB (BEICH)  - Rs.15 crore

        On 3rd Feb. 2019, our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub – BEICH through digital launch from New Delhi.
  
Out of Rs.15 crores under BEICH, Rs.7.5 crores was released by Central and State Government.  

  • 86 Projects were sanctioned and released under BEICH.
  • 77 Research fellows were awarded under BEICH.
  • 4 projects were sanctioned and released under SDC – BEICH.
  • Skill Development training for 8 Government colleges were successfully conducted  under  Entrepreneurship Centre.
  • Three Centres were established such as - 

                                        1. Entrepreneurship Centre
                                        2. Incubation Centre
                                        3. Skill Development Centre

  • Various training programs were conducted under BEICH for the benefit of Students  and Research Scholars of Bharathiar University.
     

2.     BHARATHIAR CANCER THERANOSTICS RESEARCH CENTRE (BCTRC)      - Rs.35 crore.
     
         A cancer research centre is being established, addressing the issue in a holistic manner involving experts from various fields. “Bharathiar Cancer Theranostics Research Centre”, would be established with laboratories housing state of art facilities to undertake  research on Cancer. The region enriched with unexplored traditional and tribal therapeutic methods is ideal for establishing the cancer research to tap the potential solutions for the disease.  The research team has planned to focus the research on three major thrust areas of cancer:    

  • Societal relevance research to identify the magnitude of the disease and causes of treatment failure and remission of disease
  • Diagnostics research group comprising of scientists from genomic and proteomic specialisation is  aiming  to determine an easy, rapid and early diagnostics techniques
  • Research group under Therapeutics is striving to deliver a potent combinatorial therapeutic regimen for treatment of cancer
     

        The Cancer Theranostics centre is planned to be established at an appropriate estimation of Rs.35 crore.

  • Around 50 projects proposals which fall in line with the above mentioned three objectives have been selected and sanctioned with financial assistance to the tune of  Rs.825 L. 
  • The remaining funds have been allocated for the establishment of the center.
