Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development (BSMED)

Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development (BSMED) was established in the year 1984 and had been recognized by the UGC, New Delhi as a "Center for Excellence" for teaching and research in management studies. BSMED is located in the industrial city, Coimbatore, within the confines of Bharathiar University. The campus covers a lush landscape and tranquil surrounding which creates the ideal atmosphere for the unending pursuit of knowledge.

Since 1984 the school has been providing two-year Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) full-time programme with specializations including General Management, Human Resource,Marketing, Finance and Systems.
The school was recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as “Centre for Excellence” in the year 1987. Since 1988 the school has been offering research programs such as Ph.D. and M.Phil. through full time as well as Part-time mode. In 1990 the school offered M.B.A through part-time mode to benefit the working professionals. The programme was deferred in the year 1997.

BSMED is the only B-School from India to participate in the “Global Start-Up at Singapore in 2004 along with reputed global B-Schools like Harvard, Yale, Berkley, Wharton, Columbia, Stanford, etc. The school celebrated its SILVER jubilee in the year 2010 and PEARL Jubilee in the year 2014 and entered in the RUBY jubilee. The School served as a member (Only B-School from India) in Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow (ABEST 21) held in Japan in the year 2010.

The school offers two-year full-time programme on Master in Business Administration (M.B.A) with sanctioned strength of 60 in aided mode and 60 in self-supportive mode. The students are admitted through Tamil Nadu General Counselling based on their TANCET marks. The school also offers Ph.D. Programs in management with sanctioned strength as per UGC norms.

Faculties from BSMED has had international exposure through foreign visits by participate in international conferences held in many foreign countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai / Middle east, USA and Germany etc.,

BSMED has a legacy of creating value added human resources in the form of well-trained employable M.B.A. graduates who are qualified to become a better employees, entrepreneurs and responsible citizens. The department is renowned for its research contributions and has produced 140 M.Phil Scholars and 130 Ph.D. Scholars since inception. Students are trained with mini projects, case analysis, internships and placement projects. The department also provides the students with an opportunity of seminar presentations, club activities, and colloquium sessions with various eminent industrialists, renowned scholars and faculty members from other institutions. The department has Management Development Centre which offers Management Development programme (MDP), Faculty Development Program (FDP) in addition to regular programs. The school also conducts AXIS and NEXUS events that bring together faculty, scholars, students, alumni members and Industry experts.

The school has an in-house library, which has more than 2400 management book, leading journals and dailies to help students keep pace with the latest business treads.
The school's In-house Computer Center, which has more than 60 Personal Computers, 2 Servers, Local Area Network and a leased line and a 24-hr broadband connectivity for internet facility. Sophisticated aids for imparting education such as LCD projector are used at BSMED. The latest additions to the infrastructure are smart class room and Tele Conferencing facility, wireless connectivity.

The department is actively involved in research activities in various fields of management such as Human resources, Marketing, finance, systems, operations and other managerial functions through M.B.A. projects and research programs.
