Free Education

Bharathiar University has implemented Free Education Scheme for poor and talented students from the academic year 2007-2008. Students desirous of joining various-graduate courses can approach the affiliated colleges for admission. The colleges have been given 5% extra seats in each course for admitting talented and poor students under this scheme.

The University is implementing the scheme to ensure opportunities for the talented poor students in the Post-graduate courses offered in the University Departments and students can approach their respective Heads of the Departments for admission under this scheme.

ELIGIBILITY:

Merit-cum-economic status is the main criterion for the selection of the students. Preference will be given to those students who come under the following categories.

Parental Status: Orphan, Destitute, Single Parent, Son or Daughter of divorcees, Children supported by NGOs.

Social Status: Community & Rural/Urban

Economic Status: Income of the parent(s)/ guardian, property/assets of the family

Academic Status: Marks in S.S.L.C., H.S.C., Under-Graduate Degree programme with consistent performance and extracurricular activities.

The prescribed application can be downloaded from the University website and the filled-in application be sent to the respective Principal of the affiliated college for admission in the college and the Head of the Department concerned for admission in the University Department, on or before the due date.

Those who are already admitted under this scheme in any one of the affiliated colleges of Bharathiar University are not eligible to apply to the courses offered in the University Departments.

A separate counselling will be conducted to select the students under this scheme.
