Department of Medical Physics - Major Facilities

Radiation Dosimetry laboratory consists of equipments and components required to perform Biological dosimetry, gel dosimetry and Monte Carlo aided dosimetry.  

Radiation Protection laboratory has been established with the financial support of Rs. 30 lakhs received from the University Grant Commission (UGC). It consists of equipments and components required to perform Radiation Instrumentation Laboratory that includes Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimetry (OSLD) system, Gamma Spectrometer, alpha, beta counting systems, 500 mAs Allengers Radiography unit etc., It also contains Radiation Safety instruments and Positive Ion Detector that has been developed indigenously for breath analysis. 

Infrastructure Facilities:
High performance computation (HPC) facilities @ Molecular Design and Modelling Laboratory of worth 9 lakhs is in working condition and used to do molecular modelling work.
Focus of research in Molecular Design and Modelling Lab.
Applying quantum chemical and molecular dynamics methods and study the  

• catalytic and inhibition mechanism of cysteine protease.
• physiochemical properties of graphene sheet on interaction of molecules.
• single molecule conductance in linear carbon chain.
   

Focus of research in Medical Biophysics Laboratory
Medical Biophysics lab involves in the basic and applied research through use of latest technologies in Radiation dosimetry, Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence for Medical Physics research and also Structural Biology research related to Medical Physics.
