Flow cytometry
facilities

Flow cytometry (BD-FACS Verse) is an advanced laser-based technology that eases single-cell analysis by its multi-parametric approach. It's a high-performance benchtop instrument that uses BD FACS Suite software for acquisition and analysis. The instrument is used for in-vitro studies like Cancer biology, neuroscience and clinical sample analysis. Apart from research, the instrument is introduced to post-graduate students.
Funding: DST-FIST

Gene Gun
facilities

Indigenously made gene gun/biolistic was procured for physical delivery of DNA into plant cells to produce desired transgenic plants. Several genes have been successfully delivered and produced transgenic plants harboring GUS, GFP, AFP etc. Apart from research, it’s also very effectively used for M.Sc. Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology student practical.

Zebrafish Core Facility
facilities

The Zebrafish Core Facility provides a state-of-the-art zebrafish flow-through system with a dedicated water filtration unit for researchers using zebrafish as a model for research. It houses 20 tanks (overall 200-liter capacity) with recirculating water that can accommodate 2000 adult zebrafish. It has an inbuilt controller for maintaining pH, conductivity, and temperature. Along with this, it has four breeding tanks for daily mating for up to 25 pairs. This facility plays a prominent role in the zebrafish research

Chemidoc
facilities

Chemiluminescence imager (ImageQuant LAS 500,GE Health Care) for high-resolution digital imaging of Protein and DNA samples in gels and membranes. High-performance benchtop instrument which allows real-time imaging of a chemiluminescent sample and a colored molecular marker with high quality. It is effectively used by Department research scholars, M.Sc Biotechnology and Medical Biotechnology student projects and Practical.
Funding:Bharathiar University

Fluorescence microscope
facilities

This microscope (Nikon Eclipse Ni-E)is fully motorised and equipped with user friendly digital imaging software -‘NiS Elements BR’. This microscope is capable to analyse the slides of plant, animal, celllines and microbial samples. The services are being explored to other departments and institutions. Academic activities also been carried out with conducting Hands on training and workshops to students, scholars and faculties of other institutions.

HPLC
facilities

With a choice of multiple samples this High Performance liquid chromatography system, have been used for the analysis of different metabolites and specific software that allows you to simplify the complete management chromatographic data as well. HPLC System effectively used for Research and Master students.

Anaerobic Glove Box
faciliites

Strict anaerobic bacteria are very difficult to grow, they require specific bacteriological techniques from their collection to their culture. Anaerobic chambers are used to provide an oxygen free atmosphere for incubating anaerobes. It eliminates oxygen to 0-5 parts per million (ppm) using a hydrogen gas mix (5% or less) reacting with a palladium catalyst to remove oxygen by forming a water molecule. A vacuum airlock is used to reduce oxygen levels prior to transfer of samples and tools in and out of the glove box. Access ports allow sample manipulation without exposing samples to ambient conditions.
