Animal Cell Culture Facility
The animal cell culture facility in our department is provided with all the basic and advanced equipment required for the culturing of mammalian cells and their maintenance along with high-tech microscopic observation. The facility enables students to work with primary and secondary cell lines. For the long-term preservation of cells, it also has liquid nitrogen storage containers. The expertise of in-house faculty members glows the young-mind of M.Sc., students in advancing their research through the value-added course.
Real Time PCR
Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 5 Real-time PCR system enables a sensitive choice of application for rapid quantification of nucleic acids with dye versatility. The system is largely used in gene expression studies and genetic variation analysis. The instrument is enabled with easy access software for the purpose of data analysis. Research graduates are using it in an efficient manner and the working of RT-PCR is also explained to postgraduate students and other college students through workshops and seminars.
Inverted Microscope with Fluorescence
Fluorescence imaging allows for the monitoring of biological/chemical processes with high specificity. Today, fluorescence imaging has advanced significantly to enable monitoring of biological process at sub-diffraction scale, macro size samples to continuous real-time imaging of samples for an extended period of time. These novel technical techniques will enable researchers to answer many fundamental questions. Using this Nikon inverted microscope with fluorescence imaging technologies allows us to obtain high-quality images of mammalian cells. The working of instruments is taught to postgraduate students and allowed to use for their master’s thesis work.
Muse Cell Analyzer
Muse Cell Analyzer uses miniaturized fluorescence detection and microcapillary cytometry to deliver single-cell analysis, which is highly quantitative. Muse assays use relative fluorescence and flow cytometry to assess thousands of cells per sample. This instrument allows us to carry out various cell-based assays related to cancer biology and cell cycle studies. It is effectively used by scholars and master’s students for their research works.
ELISA Reader
Multiskan Go is a high-quality filter-based microplate photometer. It is used to measure absorbance from appropriate 96 well plate formats in the wavelength range of 340 to 850 nm for detecting biological, chemical, or physical events of samples in microtiter plates. They are widely used in our laboratory for research, drug discovery, and bioassay validation. Multiskan Go can be connected to the SkanIt software which has extensive curve-fitting, cut-off calculation, data transformation, and validation capabilities. The instrument is extensively used by our M.Sc., students and research scholars to perform their laboratory assays.
