Bharathiar University Women’s Club(BUWC) is established in the year 2007 to nurture the strength of women studentsand womenemployees. BUWC helps to bring out the talents of students and faculty members. As a part of BUWC, Bharathiar University Women’s Care Centre(BU-WCC) was established in the year 2008. This care centre serves as a place of rest and shelter for the women staff and students of Bharathiar University when they are feeling indisposed.

Dr. Y.L. Jeyachandran, Assistant Professor (UGC-FRP) from the Department of Physics, and his research associate Dr. P. Peranantham were granted a patent for their research on developing a simple sol-gel procedure to produce high-quality ultra-thin silica films. The procedure is performed at a humidity level below 15%. The silica films produced as a result will have a thickness in the range of 3 to 30 nanometres at room temperature.

Professor T. Parimelazagan and his research scholar Mr. Rahul Chandran from the Department of Botany were granted Patent for the use of Syzygium mundagam (wild jamun fruit tree) in treating diabetes. The isolated active compounds from the tree bark were used in various tests. The isolated compounds showed promising anti-diabetic activity in pharmacological clinical analysis. This could be used as a natural medication with fewer side effects for diabetes treatment. The University had filed a patent for this research on September 9, 2015 and obtained it on June 25, 2021.
