The Bharathiar University established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February, 1982 received the recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi in May 1985. The University named after the great national poet 'Subramania Bharathi' is enshrined with the motto "Educate to Elevate". In the University, every effort is harnessed to realize his dream of making educational institutions as temple of learning. It is the aim of the University to participate in the task of inculcating necessary knowledge, skills, creativity, attitudes and values among the youth of the country to contribute more effectively towards establishing an equitable social and economic and secular ideal of our Nation.
Bharathiar University occupies a unique position among the academic institutions in the country as a leader in executing a variety of sponsored research projects and industrial consultancy. The uniqueness lies in the wealth of world-class expertise and extensive modern facilities of the institute. A number of initiatives were taken up to have to play a major role in collaborative research and technology transfer, the Centre was named as the "Centre for Research and Technology Development (CRTD)".The Centre for Research and Technology an autonomous research facility was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. P. Kaliraj, Vice Chancellor, Bharathiar University on 1.7.2020 (Wednesday).
The centre would provide facilitate interaction with national and international agencies, for improved Research and Development activities. It will promote academia-industry interaction and collaborations with nodal R&D laboratories and also establish connections between the University and funding agencies.
