I. DST – FIST
About the Project:
DST- FIST has sanctioned to our department with a fund of Rs. 50 lakhs, for the establishment of laboratory instrumentation facilities. This scheme was sanctioned for the enhancement of practical skills in the field of animal tissue culturing, plant tissue culturing, and fermentation technology processes to the research scholars and PG students. Besides, the networking facility for computational analysis and departmental data managementsystemsalso sanctioned under this scheme.
Utilization of Funds:
Rs.30 Lakhs has been released from the DST as the first phase. In that Rs.25 lakhs utilized for instrumentation and Rs.5 Lakhs for networking facility.
Facilities created:
A separate instrumentation room created for the convenient of the students to work freely with major instruments.
- Horizontal Laminar airflow cabinet-1 NO (BIOCARE) –Clean air systems
- Orbital shaker-1 (New Brunswick™ Innova® 24/24R)
- Vertical laminar airflow cabinet-2NOS (BIOCARE) –Clean air systems
- Orbital shaker-2nos (New Brunswick™ Innova® 24/24R)
- FERMENTOR
Present Status:
At present, we are having functionalized facilitates of the LAF, Incubator shakers, 5 Lt capacityfermentor and networking data transfer facilities. Currently, all the facilities are being utilized by PG students and Research scholars.
Outcome:
With the DST- FIST funded facilities, we have conducted 02 numbers of national-level workshops (CSIR and ICMR funded). From that, PG students, Ph. D scholars, faculty members and PDF scholars have benefited by attending the workshops.
II. RUSA
About the Project:
For the production of proteins which might be commercially viable, recombinant strain has to be constructed. The production of recombinant protein needs instrument facility such as Refrigerated shaker, Gradient PCR, Gel documentation system, etc.The Recombinant Protein Production unit provides the facility for Confirmation of recombination by PCR analysis, protein expression by temperature variation and large scale production of protein.
Utilization of Funds:
In the amount Rs.50 Lakhs sanctioned under RUSA phase 1.0, Rs. 4942862.79 has been spent on purchase of the equipments required for recombinant protein production.
Facilities created:
To facilitate production of recombinant proteins for commercialisation, recombinant protein production facility (10 equipments) has been established
