The department works with the objectives of offering career guidance to the young buddies in the education sector through the well qualified faculty members, research scholars of the career guidance. Additionally, the department is working towards for getting ready the students for industrial requirement through vocational education.

The Department of Environmental Sciences was started in 1986 as one of the new departments when Bharathiar University was formed in 1982. The Department of Environmental Sciences was started with nature-based Solution (NBS) objectives and addressing the solution for Regional, National and Global Environmental and Ecological related issues. From the beginning onwards the Department has been promoting excellent teaching, commendable research, and society-based extension activities 

Since the inception of the Department of English and Foreign Languages in the year of 2007 by Dr.P.Palanivel, Former Head and Professor, the Activities have been foreseen to the intersectionality of English Language and Literature. In the combined pursuit of Language and Literature, the Department has been offering PG, MPhil and Ph.D programs. The Teaching, Learning and Research is centered on aesthetic, linguistic and cognitive potential of the Discipline.

The Department was established in the year 2008. The mission of the department is to impart its students a thorough knowledge about the exciting field of electronic science and technology. The department also aims at creating an efficient interface between academia and industry. Initially the department started with three faculties. Presently, there are one Associate Professor and four Assistant Professor including one UGC-FRP.

The Department of Educational Technology was established in September 1990 as an interdisciplinary department to offer post graduate and research programmes in the field of education, and educational communication. The department conducts PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programme in educational technology (interdisciplinary) from the academic year 1991-92.The approach is interdisciplinary and curriculum is designed to integrate the talents of students with their personal visions and aspirations.

The School of Distance Education of Bharathiar University was established during the Academic Year 1991-1992. The School of Distance Education at present has more than 190 spot admissions cum leaning information centres spreading over 23 states and offer various job oriented programmes ranging from Diploma to Post Graduate programme to cater to the needs of different levels of aspirants, thereby help to achieve Higher Gross Enrollment Ratio in higher education.

The Department of Education, Bharathiar University was started in March, 2012 with an objective of bringing out effective and efficient Teacher Educators besides ensuring quality and need based researches in the field of Education. At present, the Department offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes in Education (Both Full-time & Part time). The University has proposed to start the M.Ed, Programme from 2013-2014 with due recognition of the NCTE.

The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2005 with dedicated, well–qualified faculty, technical staff and students. The Department is committed to be an international, multi-disciplinary centre of excellence in Computer Science through education and research.  The Department offers the programmes M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D.
