  • An Inter-Departmental Meet will be conducted for the I.M.A.English and II.M.A. English students and the Research Scholars in the month of March, initiating an interaction on Teaching and Learning in the post-pandemic context 
  • The inauguration of Peace and Harmony Clubs  in Bharathiar University will be initiated by the Department of English and Foreign Languages in collaboration with Chavara Cultural Centre envisaging a call to the Seventeen sustainable goals of United Nations

  • State level workshop on Research Methodology, Statistics and Use of SPSS which was held from 12th July 2010 to 17th July 2010 by Prof. Dr. Sansanwal, the retired Head of the Department of Education, Centre of Excellence, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. 
  • A state level one-day workshop on Memory Techniques and Soft Skills was held on 07th December 2010. The training was delivered by Major T.S. Krishnamurthi M.A. Dip. Ed, Soft Skills Trainer and Freelance Lecturer, Coimbatore. 
  • A state level one day workshop was held on 26th August 2011 in the Department of English. The workshop was a hands-on training session for the students with regard to the NET/SLET examinations. The entire session was handled by Dr. D.E. Bennet, Associate Professor, Department of English, National College, Trichy.
  • A three-day international conference titled International Conference on Science Fiction was held from 19th January 2012 to 21st January 2012 was organised by the Department of English. The sessions were handled by globally renowned academicians with around 600 participants from all over the world. 
  • A two-day intensive training programme was held on the 14th and 15th December 2012. Dr. D.E. Bennet, Associate Professor, Department of English, National College, Trichy gave hands-on training to the students and equipped them for the NET and SLET examinations.
  • A two-day National conference on Recent Researches in Language & Literature was held on 21st and 22nd of February 2013. The lecture given by the renowned academicians of the country and around 300 participants registered for the event. The conference gave insights on the latest trends in research in the field of language studies.
  • A state level placement training programme on Career Skills was organized by the Department of English on 17th April 2013. Dr. Jayakumar and his team, from the Department of Extension and Career Guidance, Bharathiar University, handled the session.
  • A state level one day workshop titled Set Your Goals was held on 29th July 2013. The workshop was conducted by Shri. S.S. Jawahar IAS, Former Principal Secretary & Commissioner, Department of Museum & Arts and Culture, Government of Tamil Nadu. 
  • A state level one-day workshop on Effective Communicative Strategies was held on 27th August 2013. The Lecture was delivered by Prof. R. Vadivel, former Professor of English, R.I.ESI, Bangalore. 
  • The Department of English organised a UGC Sponsored one-day National Conference Post-Colonial Perspectives in Language and Literature on 31st January 2014. The event was attended by 235 participants. The conference shed light on how excerpts from postcolonial writings are effective in English language teaching.

  • A state level two-day workshop on E-Learning and E-Publishing conducted by Dr. S. Senthilnathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Technology, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. The workshop was held on the 03rd and 04th February 2014.
  • A state level workshop on Learning and Using English Structures was conducted by Prof. Dr. K. Karunakaran, Former Vice Chancellor, Tamil University, on 13th August 2014.
  • A two-day National Conference on Culture through Language and Literature was held from 06th and 07th of February 2015.
  • A UGC Sponsored National Seminar on English for Employability: An Interaction Between Industry and Institutions was held on 22nd January 2016. The seminar gave insights on the need of English language, how a learner can be exposed to a work culture, what the role of stakeholders like government, universities, industries and institutions, is in that. 
  • A two-day National Conference on Subaltern Studies and Minority Literature was held from 30th and 31st March 2016. The conference gave insights on how Subaltern Studies have participated in contemporary critiques of history and nationalism, and of orientalism and Eurocentrism in the construction of social science knowledge.
  • An inter-collegiate drama fest titled ‘Shakespeare 400’ was organised for the students of the affiliated colleges of the university on the 05th August 2016. The festival has presented a varied selection of the plays of William Shakespeare, lesser-known short plays from the period, musicales, and scenes from Shakespeare's plays performed by the students from the affiliated colleges. 
  • A National Conference was organised on the topic Cognitive Approaches to Language and Literature was held on the 3rd and 4th of March 2017. The conference highlighted the benefits of using cognitive methodologies in order to explain how literary works can challenge hostile belief systems. 
  • A one-day National Workshop was conducted on Career Skills for the Visually Challenged Students on the 02nd September 2017. The workshop highlighted the career skills required in a wide range of industrial and other occupations to male and female visually impaired adults. The workshop also highlighted the orientation and mobility, communication skills, personality development to develop the targeted populations’ core strength as individuals. 
  • A National Conference on South Asian Literature was organised by the Department of English on the 09th and 10th of January 2018. The conference highlighted the theory and research, especially about teaching practices, literary-critical studies that contribute to teaching South Asian literary works.
  • An ICSSR sponsored National Colloquium on Culture in Contemporary Literature and Language was held on the 04th and 05th of January 2019. The colloquium attempted to open new avenues in the study of culture in contemporary literature and language.  Some of the thrust areas of the colloquium were Cultural hegemony, Cyber culture in literature, Race and ethnic studies, Food, culture and literature, Culture in translation studies, Culture and LGBT issues etc.
  • An ICSSR sponsored National Conference on Digital Humanities in Literature was held on the 08th and 09th of March 2019. The conference highlighted the new digitally-enabled humanities research efforts, with a specific focus on what digital humanities tools and practices can do for a range of humanistic research. 
  • A 5-day Infosys Training Programme on Skill Development and Placement Activities was held from 26th August 2019 to 30th August 2019. The training session was handled by Dr. Asha Raghavan, Senior Trainer, Infosys, Bangalore. 
  • One day Guest Lecture on Literature and Life was held on 24th September 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. P. R. Muthuswamy, Director, Dr. NGP Educational Institution Coimbatore.
  • One day Guest Lecture on Theoretical Perspectives in Subaltern Studies was held on 27th September 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Dr. T. Marx, Professor, Department of English, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. 
  • One day Guest Lecture on Neuro Linguistic Programming was held on 10th October 2019. The lecture was delivered by Dr. S. Sundara Balu, Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
  • One day Guest Lecture on World Literature and Me was held on 02nd December 2019. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Edwin Zape, Professor of English, Musiches School of Arts, Austria.
  • One day Guest Lecture on Influence of Cognitive in Oral Literature was held on 24th January 2020. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ravi Bhushan, Associate Professor of English, BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Haryana.
  • The Department of English organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Trends in English Studies from 22nd July to 29th of July 2020. 
  • A two-day National Webinar Soft Skill and Career Guidance Training was organised for the visually impaired students on the 12th and 13th of September 2020. The resource persons for the webinar were Dr. Preeti Monga, Dr. K. Muruganandan, Dr. P. Boopathy and Dr. Jagadish Chander. 
  •  A one-day Guest Lecture on Emerging Significance of ELT in Academia and Professional Studies on 23rd November 2020. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Christine Ann Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Christ University Bangalore.
  • The Department of English in association with Tamil Nadu State Higher Education (TANSCHE) organised a one-day training programme Professional English for Physical Sciences on 30th         September 2020 attended by Faculty members of Tamil Nadu State Universities and Colleges  presided by Selvi Apoorva I.A.S, Honourable Principal Higher Education Secretary to  Government of Tamil Nadu and inaugurated by Prof.Dr.P.Kaliraj, Honourable Vice Chancellor  of Bharthiar University.
  • The Department of English organised Xanthion 2020 Inauguration of Academic and Research Centres in the presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. P. Kaliraj and Dr. B. K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore Kendra. A total of six academic centres were inaugurated. The centres include: Centre for Social Research and Action, Centre for Electronic Achieves and Industry Support, Centre for Literary, Cultural Studies and Collaboration, Centre for Skill Orientation, Placement and Net Training, Centre for Foreign Languages and Centre for Academic Writing and Social Process.
