Language Laboratory
The English Language Lab, under the RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) scheme of the Government of India, has been established in the Department of English and Foreign Languages, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, in the year 2018, with the funding of Rs. 50,00,000/(Rupees Fifty Lakhs only) by the Government of India. The laboratory contains 50 individual desktop computers with high configuration (49 student systems and 1 teacher server). The systems are networked with high speed internet connectivity and monitored by Clarity Software with a few language software, purchased from Young India Films, a leading provider of language learning software in the country. The language learning software used in the language lab is a self-learning package with lessons and exercises on the language skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as grammar. It also has provisions for group teaching, circulating learning materials through networking, displaying video lessons to groups, video conferencing teaching, and classroom monitoring. A regular teaching faculty is assigned to monitor the usage of the language lab and to guide the students in the learning process.
German Classroom
The German Classroom, under the RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) scheme of the Government of India, has been established in the Department of English and Foreign Languages, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, in the year 2018, with the funding of Rs. 15,00,000/(Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only) by the Government of India. The laboratory contains 20 individual desktop computers with high configuration (19 student systems and 1 teacher server). The computers are installed with self-learning language software that would help the students to learn all the four language skills in German, Reading, writing, listening and speaking. The objective of this Classroom is to equip the students to communicate in foreign languages
Bharathi Hall
To facilitate conduct of International, national and important events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, placement programmes and cultural events, the department has a seminar hall. The Seminar hall is well-furnished, air conditioned and equipped with modern projection and audio systems with access to the internet and can house upto 250 people.
