Rules and Regulations

Students and Scholars will be admitted initially for a period of one academic year.

However, continuation of stay in hostel through readmission for subsequent years would be based on the conduct of the inmate.

The inmates will observe silence hours from 9.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. on all the days except the days preceding all University Holidays and weekends.

Bharathiar University provides accommodation for students who hail away from the Coimbatore city in various hostels established for this purpose. There are 10 hostels, named after poets and family members of Bharathiar. A separate dedicated Research Scholars hostels for men and women functions all through the year unlike summer closures.

The University Library is kept open on all the days of the year (approximately 340 days) from 8.00A.M. to 8.00 P.M. during weekdays and from 10.00 A.M. to 4.30 P.M. During Saturdays and Sundays. However, the library is kept closed on public holidays. As on August 2006, the manpower strength of the library is 5, which includes one University Librarian,one Assistant Librarian, one professional staff and two supporting staff.

About AACL

The Arignar Anna Central Library of Bharathiar University was established in the year 1981 at the Madras University Autonomous Postgraduate Centre of the University is an area of 11,230 sq.fts. The seating capacity currently is about 330, and has over 1,90,570 volumes covering all disciplines. The library subscribes to 136 National and International journals and ten leading news papers. Back issues of journals are available some dating back to 1880`s. Photocopying facility is also available inside the library.
