The Bharathiar Counselling Centre was established in the year 2001 by an executive decision of the University. The counselling centre focuses mainly on the personal, psychological, academic and other related problems of the individuals. The counselling services are rendered free of charge to the students, scholars, staff and faculty of the campus as well as to the general public. The centre has well ventilated exclusive counselling rooms situated at the Administration Block and Nachimuthu Seminar complex on the campus.

Bharathiar University Post Graduate programmes have core, elective and supportive courses/papers with credits ranging from 2 to 5 depending on the lecture hours per week. Core and elective paper are exclusively offered in the parent department, the supportive papers are offered by other departments. Bharathiar University has also introduced value added courses and job oriented certificate courses in all the programs to improve the student's skill sets.

This is established recently on the advice of the Government of Tamilnadu. When students and Public give representations to the Hon'ble Chief Minister they are forwarded to the University for immediate action. The University takes suitable action/gives replies and the same information is sent to the Chief Minister's cell for reference. The University Public Relations Officer is the Nodal Officer for this cell. Every month the Chief Minister's cell invites Nodal Officers for reconciliation and review of the progress in this regard.

The various research activities in the University were not much affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The lockdown provided an opportunity for its faculty members to develop products for protecting against COVID. One of the researches in the Department of Human Genetics and Molecular Biology during that period funded by RUSA 2.0 BEICH resulted in the development of a nano-fibre based respiratory Face Mask Infused with Herbal Extracts having antiviral properties.
